QuickBooks is a line of business
accounting software developed and marketed by Intuit.
The software has become popular among
small business owners who have had no formal accounting training.
It includes the Basis and Pro versions as well as industry-specific
versions. Businesses use QuickBooks for entering sales receipts,
tracking expenses. preparing and sending invoices, sales tax
tracking & payment, preparation of basic financial statements and
reports, purchase order processing, and inventory management. There
is an add-on available for payroll processing.
Intuit has instituted a program
called the QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program. Members must successfully
pass a written exam, on an annual basis, to maintain their status.
Certified Advisors are listed on the QuickBooks web site.
For those that do not have a formal
accounting background, QuickBooks can appear to be quite a challenge
to master.

For example, when writing a check to pay your car
insurance what account to you charge the transaction to: Insurance
Expense or Auto Expense? If you buy a $700 lap-top computer do
you charge it to Equipment Expense or to a fixed asset account?
There are instructional classes for
QuickBooks offered at most community colleges for a reasonable fee.
Occasionally a seminar is offered at a local hotel during a
weekend. However, the best instruction available is usually
one-on-one in YOUR office working on YOUR financial files. Most
people prefer to learn the software by actively inputting data
versus watching a video. Our training method allows you participate
in the training session.
If you reside in Pinellas county,
Florida, a training session can be scheduled to fit your schedule.
There is no additional charge for additional employees to
participate in the same session.
